Raymonde Gagné

Raymonde Gagné is a Canadian politician and academic who has served as the Speaker of the Senate of Canada since May 12, 2023. Appointed to the Senate in 2016 to represent Manitoba, she previously held a distinguished career in education, notably serving as the president of the Université de Saint-Boniface from 2003 to 2014. Before her appointment to the Senate, she worked as a high school teacher and principal. A recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Manitoba, she is recognized for her extensive contributions to the Canadian Francophonie and social services. She currently sits as a non-affiliated member of the Senate.
