Elected in November 2020, she assumed office on December 1, 2020. Before her legislative career, Young worked as a social service worker, a licensed grief counselor, and a staffer in the City of Philadelphia Mayor's Office of Education. She is also the founder of the Empowered Community Development Corporation and holds degrees from Central Connecticut State University and Eastern University.
