Renee Hardman

Renee Hardman is an American politician and nonprofit executive serving as a member of the Iowa Senate for the 16th district. Elected in a special election in December 2025, she holds the distinction of being the first Black woman to serve in the Iowa Senate. Prior to her legislative career, Hardman served on the West Des Moines City Council from 2017 to 2026, where she focused on affordable housing and diversity initiatives. She is currently the president and CEO of Lutheran Services in Iowa and has held various leadership roles in human resources and social services throughout her career.
