Renzo Piano is an internationally renowned Italian architect and a Senator for life of the Italian Republic. Appointed to the Senate in 2013 by President Giorgio Napolitano, he has dedicated his parliamentary stipend to funding the G124 project, a team of young architects focused on the urban regeneration of Italian suburbs. Widely considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th and 21st centuries, Piano is known for his high-tech style and iconic works such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, The Shard in London, and the California Academy of Sciences. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1998, and has served as a consultant on urban planning for several Italian cities.
