Richard Newby, Baron Newby

Richard Newby, Baron Newby is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since 1997. Educated at the University of Oxford, he began his career in the civil service before moving into corporate consultancy and charity work, notably focusing on youth development through sport. A prominent figure in the Liberal Democrats, he previously served as the party's Chief Whip in the House of Lords and as the Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords from 2016 to 2025.
