Rick Bennett is an American politician and businessman currently serving in the Maine Senate. First elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 1990, he later served in the State Senate from 1996 to 2004, including a term as President of the Maine Senate. After a hiatus from electoral office, he returned to the Maine Senate in 2020. Formerly a long-time Republican, Bennett became an independent in 2025 and is currently a candidate for Governor of Maine in the 2026 election. Throughout his career, he has balanced his legislative work with a private sector career in corporate governance and research.
