Omar Aquino is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 2nd district. Born and raised in Chicago, he made history as the youngest-ever Latino member of the Illinois State Senate upon his appointment in 2016. Prior to his legislative career, Aquino worked as a bilingual case manager for the Illinois Department on Aging and served as a legislative aide in the Illinois House of Representatives and as an outreach coordinator for Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth. He holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Loyola University Chicago and has focused his legislative work on appropriations, education, and redistricting.
