Rob Burton is a Canadian politician, businessman, and journalist currently serving as the 45th mayor of Oakville, Ontario. First elected in 2006, he has secured multiple re-elections, most recently in 2022. Before his political career, Burton worked as a journalist for the Watertown Daily Times and as a television producer for CBC, later helping to establish the youth-focused television station YTV. As mayor, he is a prominent advocate for environmental protection, greenspace preservation, and growth control, notably co-founding the Municipal Leaders for the Greenbelt. He also serves as the chair of the Ontario Auto Mayors and the Halton Police Services Board.
