Previously, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives from the 19th district. A lawyer by training, Martwick has been a prominent advocate for legislative reforms, including the implementation of an elected school board for Chicago Public Schools and the development of Illinois' concealed carry legislation. He is also active in local party politics as a Democratic Committeeman.
