Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn is an American politician serving as the Assembly Member for the 42nd District of the New York State Assembly. A member of the Democratic Party, she made history as the first Haitian-American elected to the New York State Legislature from New York City and the first woman and African-American woman to chair the Brooklyn Democratic Party. Her legislative work includes the passage of Jonah Bichotte Cowan's Law, which protects expectant mothers in hospitals. Prior to her political career, she worked as an engineer, investment banker, and educator.
