Russel Tempel

Russel Tempel is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Montana Senate, representing District 14, which includes the town of Chester. Born in 1947, he has been a notable figure in state politics. During his tenure in the 69th Montana Legislature, Tempel was part of a moderate coalition of nine Republican senators who worked across the aisle with Democrats. This group, colloquially referred to by opponents as the "nasty nine," faced a formal censure from the Montana Republican Party in March 2025 for their legislative actions.
