Sırrı Süreyya Önder was a Turkish politician, film director, screenwriter, and columnist who served as a Member of the Grand National Assembly and Deputy Speaker. He began his career in filmmaking and journalism before entering parliament as an independent candidate backed by the Peace and Democracy Party in 2011, later joining the Peoples' Democratic Party. Known for his active role in the 2013 Gezi Park protests and peace dialogue efforts, he passed away on May 3, 2025.
