A Rhodes Scholar, she has authored several books, including biographies of Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and is a vocal advocate for liberal values, individual liberty, and the rule of law. She joined the Trinamool Congress in 2024 and is known for her critical stance on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
