Sakon Yamamoto is a Japanese politician and former professional racing driver currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Before entering politics, he competed in various international motorsports, including Formula One, where he drove for teams such as Super Aguri, Spyker, and HRT. Following his racing career, he became involved in the management of his family's medical and welfare group, Sawarabi. Elected to the Diet in 2021, Yamamoto has focused on policy areas including motorsports promotion and social welfare. He is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has served as a parliamentary secretary in the Cabinet Office.
