櫻井祥子

Shoko Sakurai is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Ibaraki electoral district. Born in Tokyo in 1984, she graduated from Tohoku University with a degree in physics. Before entering politics, she worked as an IT engineer at Japan Research Institute Solutions and later became an entrepreneur, founding a venture business and an IT education service. After an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2024, she was elected to the House of Councillors in July 2025 as a candidate for the Sanseito party.
