Sam Singh is an American politician serving as a member of the Michigan Senate, representing the 28th district. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a member of the East Lansing City Council and as the mayor of East Lansing, where he was the first person of color to hold that office. During his legislative career, he also served as the Minority Leader in the Michigan House of Representatives for the 2017-2018 session. Additionally, he is a past president of the Michigan Nonprofit Association. In March 2026, he announced that he would not seek re-election to the state senate.
