Sam Sutton is an American politician and nonprofit executive serving as a member of the New York State Senate for the 22nd district. Elected in a May 2025 special election, he is the first Sephardic Jew to serve in the state senate. Prior to his legislative career, Sutton spent three decades with the social service organization Sephardic Bikur Holim and co-founded Teach NYS, an advocacy group focused on funding for nonpublic schools. He also served as a trustee for the CUNY Board of Trustees and the NYU Langone Medical Center, and previously operated a business importing women's accessories.
