Born in 1971, she entered the German Bundestag following the 2025 federal election, where she secured victory in the Plön – Neumünster constituency with 32.7% of the first vote. Prior to her election to the federal parliament, she was known as the wife of Peter Harry Carstensen, the former Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein. She currently serves as a representative for her constituency in the 21st Bundestag.
