Sarah Owen is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Luton North since 2019. She holds the distinction of being the first MP of South East Asian descent and the first female MP of Chinese descent in the UK. Before entering Parliament, she worked as a care worker for the NHS, a political assistant, and a trade union officer for the GMB. In September 2024, she was elected Chair of the Women and Equalities Committee. Her policy work has focused on bereavement leave for pregnancy loss, firework regulation, and international affairs, including her role as co-Chair of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East.
