Sarah Trone Garriott

Sarah Trone Garriott is an American politician and minister serving as a member of the Iowa Senate since 2021. Representing the 14th district, she previously served as the Senate minority whip and has been a prominent advocate for expanding access to affordable health care, including support for a public option and the restoration of Medicaid funding. Before her legislative career, she worked as a hospital chaplain and a pastor at various Lutheran churches. She is currently the Democratic nominee for the 2026 election in Iowa's 3rd congressional district.
