Satoshi Mitazono

Satoshi Mitazono is a Japanese politician and former journalist currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. After graduating from Waseda University, he worked for TV Asahi as a political reporter and commentator. He served as the 19th Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture from 2016 to 2020. Following his tenure as governor, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 2021 as an independent before joining the Liberal Democratic Party in 2025. He currently serves as the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Finance in the second Takaichi Cabinet. Throughout his career, he has navigated complex political landscapes, including shifts in his stance on nuclear energy policy and his transition from local executive leadership to national legislative office.
