Yosei Ide is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives, currently in his sixth term. Born in Tokyo in 1977, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and previously worked as a journalist for NHK. Ide began his political career with the Minna no Party and has since been affiliated with several parties, including the Innovation Party, the Democratic Party, and the Party of Hope, before joining the Liberal Democratic Party in 2019. He has served as State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Ide is known for his support of selective separate surname systems for married couples and has been active in various parliamentary leagues, including those focused on legal reform and smoking culture.
