Sebastião Melo

Sebastião Melo is a Brazilian lawyer and politician currently serving as the Mayor of Porto Alegre, a position he has held since 2021. A long-time member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), he previously served as a city councilor in Porto Alegre from 2001 to 2012, as the city's vice-mayor from 2013 to 2016, and as a state deputy in the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Sul from 2019 to 2021. Throughout his career, Melo has been a prominent figure in local politics, known for his focus on municipal management and his involvement in various regional policy debates.
