Shafiqur Rahman is a Bangladeshi politician and physician who has been serving as a Member of the Jatiya Sangsad for Dhaka-15 and as the Leader of the Opposition since February 2026. Born in October 1958 in Moulvibazar District, he earned his MBBS degree from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College in 1983 before fully committing to political life. He has served as the ameer (party leader) of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami since 2019, steering the organization through a period of transition and leading its campaign in the 2026 general election.
