Shelley Luther

Shelley Luther is an American politician and salon owner who has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives for the 62nd district since 2025. She gained national prominence in 2020 for defying COVID-19 lockdown orders to keep her Dallas-area salon, Salon à la Mode, open, which resulted in a brief jail sentence and widespread political support. Following this event, she became an outspoken advocate against government-mandated business closures. After unsuccessful bids for the Texas Senate in 2020 and the Texas House in 2022, she was elected to the Texas House in 2024.
