Shigemitsu Sasaki is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the Iwate Prefectural Assembly. Born in Rikuzentakata in 1957, he graduated from Nihon University with a degree in civil engineering and worked in the construction industry before entering politics. He served three terms as a member of the Rikuzentakata City Council before being elected to the Iwate Prefectural Assembly in 2011. Currently in his fourth term, he focuses on regional revitalization, disaster recovery following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and infrastructure development, including the promotion of the International Linear Collider (ILC) project.
