Shota Goto is a Japanese politician and former professional rugby union player currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Oita City, he played as a scrum-half for the Kobe Steel Kobelco Steelers and represented the Japan national team, earning eight caps during his athletic career. After retiring from professional rugby in 2012, he transitioned into coaching, notably leading the Otemon Gakuin University women's rugby team. In July 2025, he was elected to the House of Councillors representing the Sanseito party through the proportional representation block.
