Shota Khabareli

Shota Khabareli is a Georgian politician and former professional judoka who has served as a Member of the Parliament of Georgia since 2012. Before entering politics, he was a highly decorated athlete, winning a gold medal in the half-middleweight class for the Soviet Union at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Following his competitive career, he became a prominent judo coach, earning recognition as the best European judo coach on multiple occasions. As a member of the Georgian Dream party, he has been involved in legislative work and public service, though his tenure has occasionally faced scrutiny regarding asset disclosures.
