Silvia Grúberová

Silvia Grúberová is a Slovak politician currently serving as the Mayor of Handlová. She made history as the first woman to lead the town, assuming office on December 10, 2018, after winning the municipal election as an independent candidate. Before entering politics, she worked as a project manager for local government offices in Handlová and Žiar nad Hronom, focusing on projects funded by European Union grants. She holds a master's degree in political science and international relations from Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. In 2017, she co-founded the local activist platform Lepšia Handlová (Better Handlová) and successfully secured re-election for a second term as mayor in 2022.
