Anton Danko

Anton Danko is a Slovak politician and former international ice hockey referee who has served as the Mayor of Poprad for multiple terms. Before entering politics, he worked in management within the stone quarry industry and served as the director of the Sports Facilities Administration of Poprad. He was a co-founder of the ANO party and served as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic from 2002 to 2006. Throughout his political career, he has primarily run as an independent candidate, often securing broad support from various political coalitions. His tenure has been marked by significant involvement in local municipal development and regional administration, including service as a deputy chairman of the Prešov Self-Governing Region.
