Sol Mamakwa

Sol Mamakwa is a Canadian politician serving as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Kiiwetinoong since 2018 and as a deputy leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party since 2022. Born in Sioux Lookout and raised in Kingfisher Lake First Nation, he is the first legislator in Ontario to address the assembly in an Indigenous language, Oji-Cree. His political career focuses on Indigenous rights, healthcare, and northern economic development, including advocacy for the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
