Sorin Lavric

Sorin Lavric is a Romanian politician, writer, and philosopher who has served as a member of the Senate of Romania since 2020. Born in 1967 in Turnu Severin, he initially studied medicine before transitioning to philosophy, eventually earning a doctorate in 2005. Before entering politics, he worked as an editor at Humanitas publishing house and taught at the University of Bucharest. A member of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), Lavric has been a controversial figure due to his public statements regarding women, the Roma people, and historical figures, which led to his expulsion from the Writers' Union of Romania. He advocates for a nationalist political platform while maintaining a critical stance toward the European Union's federalist structures.
