Sten Tolgfors

Sten Tolgfors is a Swedish politician and government official currently serving as the Governor of Västra Götaland County since 2022. Previously, he held significant national roles, including Minister for Foreign Trade from 2006 to 2007 and Minister for Defence from 2007 to 2012. During his tenure as Minister for Defence, he oversaw the abolition of conscription and the transition to an operational defense model. A former member of the Swedish Parliament for Örebro County, Tolgfors also worked in the private sector as an arms lobbyist following his resignation from government in 2012.
