A member of the National Party, she previously held ministerial office in the Perrottet ministry, serving as the Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience from 2021 to 2023. During this time, she was also appointed as the Minister for Flood Recovery to manage the state's response to the 2022 New South Wales floods. Before her political career, Cooke was a successful florist and business owner, having operated Native Botanical with multiple locations in regional New South Wales.
