Steve Yemm

Steve Yemm is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Mansfield since his election in 2024. Born in Rainworth to a mining family, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Nottingham and previously worked in the IT sector. Before entering national politics, Yemm was a long-term chairman of the local Labour group and unsuccessfully contested the 2011 Mansfield mayoral election. As an MP, he has advocated for the release of surplus funds from the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme to support former mineworkers. In 2025, he faced scrutiny and apologized for failing to declare a donation from a local business while praising the company in the House of Commons.
