Sun-young Kang

Sun-young Kang is a South Korean politician and retired military officer currently serving as a member of the 22nd National Assembly. A trailblazer in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, she was the first female officer to reach the rank of Major General in the Army Aviation branch and served as the first female commander of a combat unit, the Army Aviation Operations Command. Throughout her distinguished military career, she held numerous leadership roles, including commander of the 11th and 60th Aviation Groups. Since entering politics in 2024, she has focused on national security and defense policy, serving on the National Assembly's National Defense Committee and various party leadership roles within the People Power Party.
