Sunetra Pawar is an Indian politician serving as the 11th Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra since January 2026, becoming the first woman to hold this office in the state's history. A member of the Nationalist Congress Party, she currently leads the party and oversees the State Excise, Sports and Youth Welfare, and Minorities Development and Aukaf ministries. Before her appointment as Deputy Chief Minister, she was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha in June 2024. Pawar entered active electoral politics during the 2024 Indian general election, contesting the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. She is a member of the prominent Pawar family and is the widow of the late politician Ajit Pawar.
