Sylvia Elaine Taylor is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for the 57th District. Elected in 2023 and assuming office in January 2024, she holds the distinction of being the first woman and the first Black woman to represent this district. Prior to her legislative career, Taylor served as a Workers' Compensation Judge until her retirement in 2015 and subsequently practiced law at her private firm in LaPlace, Louisiana.
