Szymon Michałek

Szymon Michałek is a Polish local government official and economist who has served as the Mayor of Chorzów since May 2024. Before entering politics, he spent over a decade working in the analytical departments of international financial corporations. A long-time activist associated with the Ruch Chorzów football club community, he gained prominence through his advocacy for local infrastructure projects and political activism. In 2024, he was elected mayor as an independent candidate with support from Poland 2050 and Ślonzoków Razem, winning in the first round. In 2026, he was appointed to the Local Government Council under the President of the Republic of Poland.
