Türkan Elçi is a Turkish politician, writer, teacher, and lawyer currently serving as a Member of the Grand National Assembly for the Republican People's Party, representing Istanbul's 3rd electoral district. Born in Diyarbakır, she spent fifteen years as a Turkish language teacher before transitioning to law. In 2019, she founded the Tahir Elçi Human Rights Foundation. Elçi is also an accomplished author, having published a novel titled 'Mavi Karga' in 2022 and a poetry collection, 'Sen Şarkına Devam Et', in 2023. Within the parliament, she serves on the Committee on Equal Opportunity for Women and Men and is involved in legislative efforts regarding the democratic resolution of the Kurdish issue.
