Vehbi Koç is a Turkish politician and former sea captain currently serving as a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for Trabzon, representing the Justice and Development Party (AK Party). Born in Ankara in 1960, he completed his primary and secondary education in Trabzon before graduating from the Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty in 1982. Prior to his parliamentary career, he worked extensively in the maritime sector, focusing on ship ownership, brokerage, and shipbuilding. He entered politics in 2004, serving as a member of the Istanbul Provincial General Assembly and holding leadership roles within the AK Party's Industry and Trade Commission. He is also the founder of the Piri Reis Maritime Foundation.
