Tōru Ushikoshi

Toru Ushikoshi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Omachi City in Nagano Prefecture, a position he has held for five consecutive terms since 2006. Born in 1950 in what is now Omachi, he is the son of former Omachi Mayor Yasuo Takahashi. Ushikoshi graduated from Waseda University's School of Political Science and Economics in 1974 and subsequently joined the Nagano Prefectural Government. During his career in the prefectural administration, he notably served as the director of the Hakuba Jumping Venue for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. He entered local politics in 2006 and has since been re-elected multiple times, often running unopposed.
