田島麻衣子

Maiko Tajima is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Aichi Prefecture constituency. Before entering politics, she had an extensive international career, working for the United Nations World Food Programme and various humanitarian organizations, including assignments in Laos, Armenia, Egypt, and South Africa. First elected to the House of Councillors in 2019 and re-elected in 2025, she is affiliated with the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan. Her legislative work has focused on social welfare, gender equality, and economic policy, frequently addressing issues such as child abuse prevention, emergency medical support, and the promotion of women's active participation in society.
