Takashi Harai is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yoshinogawa in Tokushima Prefecture. Born in 1979, he previously worked in the timber industry and served as a member of the Tokushima Prefectural Assembly for two terms. He was first elected mayor in 2019 and secured a second term in 2023. During his tenure, he has focused on local fiscal management, including salary reductions for special municipal positions to fund COVID-19 countermeasures, and implemented a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2021.
