Takuya Tasso is the Governor of Iwate Prefecture, currently serving his fifth consecutive term. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, he began his career as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before transitioning to national politics, where he served four terms as a member of the House of Representatives. Since his election as governor in 2007, Tasso has focused on regional revitalization, disaster recovery following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and the promotion of local culture and industries.
