Козак, Тарас Романович

Taras Kozak is a former Ukrainian politician and media mogul who served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the VIII and IX convocations. A close associate of Viktor Medvedchuk, he held various positions in the State Customs Service and the tax administration before entering national politics. Kozak was the owner of several media outlets, including NewsOne, ZIK, and 112 Ukraine, which were later sanctioned for alleged pro-Russian propaganda. In 2021, he faced personal sanctions from Ukraine and the United States for his involvement in destabilization activities. In January 2023, he was stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship by presidential decree and subsequently lost his parliamentary mandate.
