Ковалёв, Александр Иванович

Aleksandr Ivanovich Kovalyov (1934–2017) was a prominent Soviet and Russian painter and a master of Palekh lacquer miniature art. A member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1968, he served as the director of the Palekh artistic and production workshops from 1974 to 1989, overseeing a period of significant financial and organizational success. Beyond his artistic career, he was elected as a deputy of the Palekh District Council for six convocations and served on the Board of Trustees of the Russian Authors' Society. He was recognized for his contributions to Russian culture with numerous awards, including a commendation from the President of the Russian Federation in 2014.
