Teresa Saavedra Woorman

Teresa Saavedra Woorman is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for the 16th district since August 2024. Born in Puebla, Mexico, she immigrated to Maryland as a child and later built a career in legislative staff roles and political campaign management. Prior to her appointment to the House, she served as the secretary of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee and worked as a public information officer for the county government. In the legislature, Woorman has prioritized housing affordability, ethics reforms, and health equity, notably introducing legislation to support noncitizen spouses in estate matters. She gained national attention in 2024 for her viral appearance during the Democratic National Convention.
