Terri Sewell is an American politician and lawyer serving as the U.S. Representative for Alabama's 7th congressional district since 2011. A native of Huntsville, she is the first African-American woman elected to Congress from Alabama. Before entering politics, she practiced law as a securities and public finance attorney. In Congress, Sewell is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and has focused on job creation, voting rights, and healthcare access. She is known for her liberal voting record and has been a consistent supporter of the Affordable Care Act and reproductive rights.
