Thangam Debbonaire is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since February 2025. Previously, she served as the Member of Parliament for Bristol West from 2015 to 2024, during which time she held several shadow cabinet positions, including Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Before entering politics, she was a professional classical cellist and worked extensively in the domestic violence sector. A self-described democratic socialist, she has focused her career on social responsibility, drug policy reform, and gender equality.
